[WFB Lecture Hall]Buddhist Story: The Method of Farming.
Buddhist Story: The Method of Farming. A farmer, seeing the vigorous growth of rice seedlings in another person's field, asked the owner, "How can I make my rice grow so well?" The owner replied, "First, turn over the soil to loosen it, then plant the seedlings, and occasionally add some manure." The farmer followed the advice: he loosened the soil, mixed manure with water, and applied it to the field. But when ready to plant, he feared his feet would harden the soil, hindering rice growth. He then decided, "I'll sit on a chair and have someone carry me to plant from above." He asked four strong men to carry him into the field to plant. Others saw and laughed, saying, "You fear your feet hardening the soil, but adding eight more feet only makes it harder." Words of Wisdom: Failing to use wisdom properly leads to not reaping the harvest one deserves, and one ends up hindering oneself.
