Buddhist Story: The Monk with Heavenly Eyes.
A talented young man hosted a feast. A monk, soon after sitting down, laughed, saying he saw a monkey fall into a river fifty thousand li away.
Knowing the monk was boasting, the young man filled other guests' bowls with delicacies but only rice for the monk, covering the dishes.
The monk, angry at the sight of only rice, demanded to know why. The young man asked, "You can see a monkey far away, but not the dishes under your rice?"
Embarrassed, the monk left.
Wisdom: People often overlook what's near while focusing on the distant. Boasting reveals shallowness.
