项目简介：

　　香港大学的助理教授Olivier Ottevaere和John Lin设计了一个公共图书馆和社区中心。其最突出的特点是弯曲的木屋顶，孩子们可以在上面奔跑。项目被建造在云南省双河村，作为政府2012年毁灭性地震后的重建工作。现在图书馆不仅作为怀念逝去亲人的纪念馆，也成为社区未来的催化剂。

　　图书馆屋顶采用扭曲的路径从高架道路延伸到新建建设的纪念广场上。除了成为孩子们玩乐的空间，屋顶为村民提供了一个俯瞰美丽山谷的地方，甚至可将其作为一个桥梁来使用，人们可以从一个领域到达另一个地方。John Lin告诉谈到，“尽管政府为重建提供了开放的广场，我们更想通过引入一个可以激活这个乡村的项目来帮助这里的人们”。

　　在图书馆内，桁架作为提供整体结构的支撑物的同时，也向下延伸形成一个简单的浮动书柜，向当地人提供免费阅读材料。坚固的学校长椅用作阅读座位，而聚碳酸酯做成的门可以打开使空气流通并和外面的广场联系起来。

　　项目成功的原因一部分可以归因于当地木材制造工厂，他们只使用简单的材料就创造了一个相对独特的形式。不像地震后的混凝土建筑，这座利用当代木材结构建成的图书馆，仍然可以作为在国内偏远地区的一个可行的选择。项目大部分资金是由香港大学赞助的，并且对项目进行监督直至建成。

　　THE PINCH is a library and community center in ShuangheVillage, Yunnan Province, China. The project is part of a government ledreconstruction effort after an earthquake in Sept 2012. The majority of villagehouses were destroyed, leaving the residents living in tents for up to oneyear. After the earthquake the government has sponsored new concrete and brickhouses and a large central plaza. During the first site visit, the housesremained incomplete and the plaza was a large empty site.

　　The University of Hong Kong decided to sponsor the designand implementation of a new library building. Located in the new but emptypublic plaza, it would serve to activate the community and provide a physicalmemorial for the event. The site of the library is against a 4 meter highretaining wall. The design spans across this level difference and acts as abridge between the rebuilt village and the new memorial plaza. Emphasizing itslocation in a remote mountain valley, the design responds visually to the spaceof the valley, offering stunning views across a dramatic double curved roof.The structure itself rises to a peak, a monument to the earthquake andrebuilding effort.

　　Rather than submitting to the abandonment of woodconstruction (as with the houses after the earthquake), the project reassertsthe ability to build contemporary timber structures in remote areas of China.
