Buddhist Story: Gifting a Moonlight. A Zen master who practiced meditation in the mountains, one night, after taking a stroll along the forest path under the bright moonlight, returned to his humble hut only to encounter a thief who had visited his abode. Fearing to startle the thief, the master stood at the doorway, waiting patiently... Unable to find anything valuable, the thief turned to leave when he encountered the Zen master. In the midst of his panic, the master said, You've traveled a long mountain path to visit me; I can't let you return empty-handed! With that, he took off his outer garment and said, It's chilly at night; take this with you. After speaking, the Zen master draped the garment over the thief's shoulders, leaving the latter at a loss, bowing his head and slipping away. Looking at the thief's retreating figure, the Zen master said with emotion, Poor soul, I wish I could gift you a moonlight. The next day, as warm sunshine gently bathed the hut, the Zen master opened the door and, upon opening his eyes, saw the garment he had given to the thief neatly folded and placed at the entrance. Overjoyed, the master murmured, I have finally gifted him a moonlight...
