Buddhist Story: The Parrot and the Fire. A parrot flew to another forest, got along well with the animals there and was well cared for. Later, missing its hometown, it left. Months later, a big fire raged in that forest. The passing parrot saw it, wet its feathers in water, then flew over the fire to drip water, repeating this several times. A god asked why it was so silly as a big fire couldn't be put out by its few drops. The parrot said it knew it was in vain but couldn't stand by as the animals were like brothers.
