Buddhist Story: The Couple's Dispute Over the Cake. A couple had three cakes. After each eating one, they made a pact that whoever spoke first would not get to eat the last one. Soon after, a thief snuck into their home, and both remained silent due to their agreement. Seeing their silence, the thief grew bolder and even started to tease the wife. Unable to bear it any longer, the wife scolded her husband and shouted for help, but her husband clapped and laughed, saying, "The cake is mine now!" Wisdom Insight: For the sake of just one cake, the family lost even more valuables, serving as a warning to people not to lose sight of the bigger picture in pursuit of minor gains.
