Buddhist Story: Shunt all evils and cultivate all virtues. A young man asked a Zen master, "What is the essence of Buddhism?" The Zen master replied, "Shunt all evils and cultivate all virtues." The young man said with disbelief, "Even a three-year-old child knows that." The Zen master said, "Though a three-year-old may know it, an eighty-year-old may not be able to live by it." The young man suddenly saw the light and bowed before retreating.
