Buddhist Story: Go Wash Your Bowl. During the Tang Dynasty, a monk who was studying Zen Buddhism traveled a great distance to arrive at the Guanyin Temple in Zhaozhou, Hebei Province. After breakfast, he approached the Zen Master of Zhaozhou and asked, "Master, I have just begun my monastic life. Please guide me on what Zen truly is." Zhaozhou inquired, "Have you eaten your porridge?" The monk replied, "Yes, I have eaten my porridge." Zhaozhou said, "Then go wash your bowl!"
