Buddhist Story: The Rat in the Rice Jar.
A rat accidentally fell into a half-filled rice jar, and it was overjoyed. After gorging itself, it fell asleep comfortably. As the days passed, the rat grew increasingly addicted to the delicious rice in the jar, completely forgetting about leaving the place. When the rice in the jar was almost gone, the rat realized that it could no longer jump out of the jar, and due to its obesity from overeating, it couldn't even jump at all. Now, it was in a dire situation; either it would be caught and killed by its owner or starve to death inside the rice jar.
This story teaches us a valuable lesson: Temptations in life are like the rice in the jar. If we fail to see the dangers lurking behind them, or if we know the risks yet cannot resist the urge to have them, we will find ourselves sinking deeper and deeper, eventually reaching a point of no return, just like the rat.
