Buddhist Story: Yes, I Lost.
A samurai came to Zen Master Ikkyu's room with a fish in his hand.
He said, "Let's make a bet, monk. Tell me, is the fish in my hand dead or alive?"
Ikkyu knew that if he said it was dead, the samurai would surely release his grip; but if he said it was alive, the samurai would secretly squeeze harder to kill the fish.
So, Ikkyu said, "It's dead."
The samurai immediately let go of the fish and laughed, "monk, you lost. Look, the fish is alive."
Ikkyu smiled lightly and said, "Yes, I lost."
Although Ikkyu lost the bet, he saved a fish.
