The Life of the Buddha 06 As time went by, the prince grew into a smart and intelligent young child. With a noble and refined nature, he showed no interest in the children's toys around him. Starting at age seven, the prince invited famous masters to teach him India's top - tier knowledge then: the Five Vidyas and Four Vedas. The Five Vidyas cover grammar & linguistics, arts & crafts, medicine, logic, and spirituality. The Four Vedas are the Rigveda, Sāmaveda, Yajurveda, and Atharvaveda. From the age of seven to twelve, the prince mastered this knowledge thoroughly. This left the authoritative scholars invited by King Suddhodana deeply impressed, and they voluntarily resigned.
