Prince Siddhartha entered the garden. King Suddhodana had previously sent the counselor Yodhāyī to encourage the palace maids to tempt the prince. Yodhāyī cited many examples of sages losing their mental stability due to women's charms, inspiring the palace maids to display their allure to win over the prince and prevent him from leaving the palace in disgust and cutting off the royal succession. The palace maids swarmed around the prince like bees flocking to flowers, displaying the most coquettish postures. They sang, danced, flirted, and resorted to all kinds of means to arouse the prince's desire for love. However, the prince's heart was as firm as a diamond and remained unmoved.
