Buddhist Story: The Eagle and the Chick. An eagle that had been hungry for several days suddenly spotted a chick looking for food on the ground and swooped down to seize it at once. The chick quickly said, "Brother Eagle, why the hurry? I haven't laid eggs for you yet!" The eagle was puzzled and asked, "What eggs could you lay?" The chick seriously replied, "I'll grow up soon and lay many eggs to hatch lots of chicks. Then you'll have endless chicks to eat." The eagle thought it was reasonable and released the chick. Soon, the chick grew into a big hen and had many chicks. When the eagle came to catch them after getting the news, the chicks hid in the house under their mother's protection. Unable to catch any, the eagle finally realized it had been deceived. Words of Wisdom: In a dangerous situation, the chick managed to get a chance of survival by taking advantage of the eagle's greed. The chick's wit is worth learning from.
