[size=13.3333px]On the fifth day after the prince's birth, the king invited authoritative Brahman scholars across India to name him. As the prince was born with auspicious signs, he was named 「Siddhartha」, meaning "accomplishment of all meanings". However, the joy lasted only until the seventh day when an unfortunate event occurred, that is, the passing away of Queen Maya, the mother of the prince.

[size=13.3333px]The younger sister of Queen Maya, Mahaprajapati, volunteered to raise the prince on behalf of her sister. She was beautiful in appearance and kind-hearted in nature. Even after she gave birth to Nanda later, she still showed great affection for the prince. King Suddhodana also choosed thirty-two palace maids to assist in taking care of the prince, so the prince's infancy was carefree and happy.
